Random findings :: Fourteen

Wow - It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these! Now that the sun is out, I am feeling much more motivated to go out and take pictures for my own personal purpose. Last weekend was just gorgeous and I didnt think twice about putting on my flip flops and going out to explore. Here’s a shot I took on a property which was once owned by my great-great grandfather!

In other news, I have started a new ‘Page’ on Facebook. I found I couldn’t do anything with the ‘group’ and it was kind of useless. With the ‘Page’ I’ll be able to post recent news and information as well as photos of recent sessions. If you add my ‘Page’, you’ll be the first to know about contests and giveaways! Please ‘LIKE‘ me:

Lastly, I’ll be out of town from May 5th – 9th. During this time I might not be able to reply to emails or phone calls, please be patient and I’ll get back to you upon my return. I’m actually going out West to do some shooting and to take a few days off before the crazy wedding season begins! Not only will I be busy shooting, but I have tons of new things in the works for Melissa Johnston Photography. Look out for those this Spring/Summer ;)

A dose of newbies

Spring is often referred to as the season of new beginnings and new life. It gives us a chance to start things fresh and get ready for the beautiful warm weather that is ahead. The tree buds are coming out and the flowers are blooming -  and I’m loving it!

Speaking of new life, I recently had the pleasure of photographing a few newborns who decided to sprout around the same time. Each and every one of these babies were so good to me! It’s amazing how at such a young age, they already have their own little personalities. Here they are:

Maya was so darling. Although I only had a bit of quiet time to capture images of her, the images we did get were totally worth it!

Antoine was probably the easiest baby I have ever photographed! He was so easy going and let me do absolutely anything while he took a long, deep nap.

Grace was the last baby I photographed, and boy was she precious! Just look at all that hair!

Friends :: Lifestyle

Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting 5 wonderful ladies. You see, these were the girls who won the contest I held back in September. The contests purpose was to see what people were grateful for and I had an amazing amount of entries! I had so many entries that I had such a hard time choosing a winner, so I decided to pick 5 favorites and draw one lucky winner out of a hat. Roxanne’s entry was the one that I pulled out and I was thrilled! When I read Roxanne’s entry it made my heart all warm and fuzzy inside. It was kind, caring and most of all selfless. Here’s was what she said:

” The one thing that I’m grateful for in my life is… my FRIENDS!!!!

I have this group of girls, and we’ve been friends since elementary school. It’s been well over a decade! We are 5 and we are closer now then ever. It’s funny because we are all different in our own little way, yet we get along like PB&J…lol…One is sporty yet classic with her style, one is the typical ballerina but she likes to party, one is eclectic and free spirited, one is the smartest girl you’ll ever meet…and well the last one is me.

We didn’t all go to the same high school or the same university but we’ve kept in touch and we see eachother regularly.. We’re still best friends.

So the one thing that I am grateful for in my life is to still have such great friends after so many years. I’m very lucky to have such a strong bond with each of them and they are very special to me. I love them very much. ” – Roxanne.

So here they are. 5 beautiful, lively and lucky girls. Roxanne, Michelle, Kristina, Marisa and Carolyne.

LOVE this next shot!

Thanks again for the thoughtful card and wine girls, I had a blast hanging out with you all for a bit :)

Valerie & Jason :: Wedding

I love photographing weddings for those couples that I shot their engagement photos. For me it makes it that much more personal since we got to know eachother a little bit more before hand and I got to see their love unfold infront of my..well lens…

I had a good time photographing Valerie and Jason’s engagement shoot back in the fall but even more fun shooting their wedding a couple of weeks ago. Everything about their day was perfect! I know that Valerie worked hard to make her and Jason’s day special and it definitely showed. I was giddy when I saw her flowers, I was in awe when I saw her dress and I was thrilled with the venue (Strathmere). Not only were those little things exciting for me, but it was also a beautiful day for a ‘winter’ wedding. Even though it was unsually warm for this time of year, Valerie and Jason couldn’t take their hands off of eachother.  This kind of love makes me love what I do…

Valerie has such a gorgeous smile…
