My first real ‘Reads’ post!

I am actually following up on my little book club post I wrote a while ago. I was able to read a few books while I went on my trip last month and I’m happy to say they kept me entertained, especially on the long plane rides.

First, I read ‘Still Alice’.

This book was a great, quick read. It’s a story about Alice, a Harvard Professor who finds out that she has early onset Alzheimers disease. It was a very heavy subject to read about, but to read about her triumphs and the strong woman she continues to be during her turmoil was spectacular. I recommend it.

The second book I read was ‘Scar Tissue’, Anthony Kiedis’ autobiography.

This book talks about the ups and downs of the rockstar especially his battle with drug addiction. The book also talks alot about the forming and the rising of the band. I always like to read biographies from time to time and this had been one of my favorites so far.

Julie & Rich :: Wedding

I know I have been sort of MIA when it comes to the blog this month but I have a good reason! I finally got my wisdom teeth removed! (I also get to remove that off my 101 in 1001 list). I have to say though, that it has been one of the worst experiences of my life! I’d like to thank all of my friends and family members who told me it was going to be a breeze though. I believe in the power of little white lies, and it did help push my butt into that dental office…but once the anesthesia wore off I shook my fist in the air to all of those who made me believe otherwise. Anyway onto the real reason for this post…

Originally, Julie and Rich’s wedding was supposed to take place in September. Just a little over a month ago, Julie contacted me to find out if I would be available sometime in February or March to bump their wedding up. There was no appearent reason why except for the fact that they wanted to get married sooner. She then proceeded to tell me that their ceremony would take place in their own home with a few close family members and friends. At first I thought ‘WOW! That’s brave!’, but once I got there a couple weekends ago it all came together. Their home was decorated so beautifully and the small detailed touches are what made the day so much more authentic. I adore it when couples want to stay true to themselves and choose not to follow the traditonal ways  of a typical wedding day.

Julie and I have very similar tastes. We both share a love for vintage and antiques which might be the reason why I will always hold a very special place in my heart for their intimate day.

The Wilson Ranch :: Lifestyle

A couple months ago I was contacted by Sarah who asked if I would be willing to take pictures of her horses. Being an extreme animal lover, I of course agreed! She preferred to have them photographed in the winter time so I was excited for the day to come when I would finally capture these gorgeous creatures.

I love horses, not only are the beautiful, strong animals, but they have such a gracious soul that is so clearly visible through their dark eyes. As I was taking pictures, I felt a huge sense of calm being around them. It’s as if they spoke to me. I’m not sure if it was the sweet experience or simply the cold wind that day that brought tears to my eyes, but nonetheless, I had an amazing time.

Thank you Sarah for giving me the opportunity to capture your wonderful horses and for making me want one of my own..Hehe!

And a few of me doing my thing and enjoying my time…

Oceans & Palm trees & Rum – Oh My!

For those of you who were wondering where I went last week – I escaped the below freezing temps to go on a wonderful trip with my mom.

I had a blast and have to say that it’s a bit of a culture shock to be back in snow and bare trees. I had the pleasure to visit St-Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St-Lucia, St-Kitts and St-Maarten. These are all beautiful islands and definitely recommend them to anyone who is considering going. My 2 favorite places were Dominica and St-Lucia with their luscious greenery and mountains.

Since this trip was meant to be a vacation, I didn’t take too many pictures but here are just a couple that I randomly chose to show you. I can now scratch a few things off my 101  in 1001 list!
