Jennifer & Chris :: Wedding

Jennifer and Chris’ wedding took place in Chris’ parents beautiful backyard along side the St-Lawrence River in Long Sault. Even though the weather didn’t end up being extravagant, the scenery sure was!

Like every other wedding, Jenn and Chris ran into a few minor hiccups right before the ceremony, but I reassured Jenn that everything would work out just fine! And it did – perfectly might I add ;)

The outdoor ceremony was low key and very peaceful (just how I like ‘em) followed by a nice intimate reception featuring an excellent jazz band from Ottawa. All in all it was a wonderful day and I was happy to be a part it!

After taking pictures by the St Lawrence parkway, we then headed to the Yacht Club.

Jake :: Newborn

Remember my 24 things to do before I turn 25 list? I had mentioned that one of my goals was to eventually shoot my sister’s maternity and her newborns. Well back in April, I had a wonderful maternity shoot with Julie and a couple weekends ago, it was finally time to shoot her newborn, Jake!

Not to be biased or anything since he is my nephew and all, but Jake is such a beautiful baby boy! He was extremely alert which made things a little more difficult then planned, but my guess is that he was too excited to see Auntie Melissa! After 3 sleepless hours, Jake finally fell asleep for about 15-20 minutes.

Newborn shoots are never a sure thing but the results are so worth the effort. Here are a couple shots from that small window of time:

Proof that Jake was wide awake during most of the shoot!

Seguin Family :: Lifestyle

Cayla contacted me quite a while ago to book a session of her and her siblings as a gift to their parents for their 30th wedding anniversary in August. After postponing the shoot twice due to rain, we finally got to do it last weekend. You know what they say – third time is a charm!

This family was a blast to work with and kept me laughing during the entire session! It’s so great to see such a great relationship between brothers and sisters.

As the evening went on, rain clouds began rolling in – we had no time to lose! We finished up just as the first drops of rain began to fall. Perfect timing!

Amanda & Keni :: Wedding

Amanda and Keni’s wedding took place last weekend in Fitzroy Harbour. It was a beautiful June day with crystal clear skies and a gentle breeze. Not only was the weather perfect but the wedding was wonderful and everything fell neatly into place.

I met up with the girls bright and early not only to get shots of them getting ready, but to also hang out with some familiar faces from the destination wedding in Punta Cana that I did back in April. I really felt like more then just their photographer, I felt like one of their friends which is always a great way to start the day!

The rest of the day went smoothly. The ceremony took place at St.Micheals, a gorgeous picturesque church in Fitzroy followed by some pictures in Galetta and finally ending the day at The Kanata Holiday Inn for their reception.

I recently got requests to post more pictures up from weddings so here it goes!

I also want to make a shout out to my associate photographer, Christopher Hanlan. Chris assists me at almost every wedding that I book and I couldn’t do it without him! Not only does he help me out with equipment but he often shoots things that I can’t, (since I am not able to cut myself in two) for example the guys getting ready and he does it very well might I add!

Anyway, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Chris really does help me out with alot more. He is there with me all day and I am so thankful to have him by my side :)

Big changes!

** This post will remain at the top for a little while. Scroll down to see recent sessions!**

I am so excited to announce the big, no, HUGE announcement to you all! I have been working very hard to finally make this happen for me and the business. So here it is! Introducing - ’Melissa Johnston Photography’!

Yes, you got it right – my name has changed. Not only did the name change, but there has been some major overhauling to the blog and the website (coming soon) as you might have noticed already. I have to say that my former name ’Melissa Ann Photography’ has been very good to me and I will miss it dearly, but I’m off to some bigger and better things for 2009 and I can’t wait to share them all with you!

Let me just clear things up and say this does not affect my past, present and future clients in any way so don’t fret! Melissa Johnston Photography is the exact same as it was, just some cosmetic differences :) Yay! The only thing that has been affected however, is the site addresses and email address. Please update your feed and favorites because my web addresses have changed. My new email address is now info@melissajohnstonphotography.com. Also, if you could please pass the word along to everyone, it would be very much appreciated! I love you all and can’t wait to embark in this spankin’ new journey with the good ol’ (but new) Melissa Johnston Photography!

I’d also like to thank a couple people for making this happen. (Sounds like I won an Oscar lol). Chris, my tech guy, thank you so much for all the help on revamping the blog! Also a HUGE thank you to Amy from Candy Apple Studios for redesigning my whole logo and well I guess my whole branding :) You were amazing to work with and I can’t thank you enough for making my vision a reality!
