Random findings :: Fourteen

Wow - It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these! Now that the sun is out, I am feeling much more motivated to go out and take pictures for my own personal purpose. Last weekend was just gorgeous and I didnt think twice about putting on my flip flops and going out to explore. Here’s a shot I took on a property which was once owned by my great-great grandfather!

In other news, I have started a new ‘Page’ on Facebook. I found I couldn’t do anything with the ‘group’ and it was kind of useless. With the ‘Page’ I’ll be able to post recent news and information as well as photos of recent sessions. If you add my ‘Page’, you’ll be the first to know about contests and giveaways! Please ‘LIKE‘ me:

Lastly, I’ll be out of town from May 5th – 9th. During this time I might not be able to reply to emails or phone calls, please be patient and I’ll get back to you upon my return. I’m actually going out West to do some shooting and to take a few days off before the crazy wedding season begins! Not only will I be busy shooting, but I have tons of new things in the works for Melissa Johnston Photography. Look out for those this Spring/Summer ;)

Whoa! I am long overdue for one of these! I cannot believe that October is almost over and November is coming at us in full force already! Soon the ground will be covered in puffy white snow and Santa will be visiting once again. I have many clients who all want winter sessions and that makes me extremely happy. There is no need to be afraid of the cold weather when it comes to your session. There are so many great photo ops to be had in the winter time! Just throw on some Uggs and a nice warm jacket and we’ll make the most of the chilly, crisp season!

And what’s a post without a picture? I was going through my images the other day and came across this little gem:

While photographing the bridal party at a wedding this summer, I turned around and noticed my little mentoree mimicking me by my side :)

I also wanted to take this time to sincerely thank all of my clients, family and friends for their extreme patience. Autumn is by far my busiest time of year and this year has been no exception! I value my work immensely and just want everyone to know that I am working hard on each and every order that is still pending. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so kind and so patient with me during this time!

It’s been a while since I have posted a random findings, but its also been a while since we’ve seen the warmth and the sunshine! Summer is starting to show it’s face little by little and I cannot wait to wear those flip flops!

I am so excited to announce that I finally got my long awaited tilt shift lens :) (Another thing to scratch off my 24 things to do before I turn 25 list).  Since the sun showed it’s face last weekend, I decided to take a little road trip and test this baby out. So I went all the way across the border to the States to find some cool stuff.

Here are some neat abandoned locations I found on my little adventure. Enjoy :)

Random findings :: Eleven

I know I have been slacking when it comes to my Weekly Findings…they really haven’t been an ‘every week’ type of thing, but I’ve been so busy with the launch of the new site as well as getting orders ready before Christmas.

Anyway, enough with the excuses…I thought I would start something new with my Weekly Findings. First off, I’m changing the name to ’Random findings’…since I might not always be able to make it a weekly thing. Second, since I stumble upon so many things that catch my eye and inspire me when I surf the net, I figured I would share them with you. So I’ll post the links of some fun stuff that you might want to check out if you have nothing else to do. Oh, and I’ll still provide a picture with each post :)

Here it goes!

There is still vitality under the winter snow, even though to the casual eye it seems to be dead” – Agnes Sligh Turnbull

I miss dancing.

 Cooking would be more exciting if I had one of these.

 Check her out.

I love this diptych.
